Dr. Lekshmi R. Venugopal is a board-certified physician in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in Rockford, Illinois. She completed her residency training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She has been interested in helping those who suffer from addiction from an early age. Her master’s thesis work at Boston University School of Medicine was focused on alcohol addiction. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Since 2008, Dr. Venugopal has been working at Linden Oaks Behavioral Health, a part of the Edward-Elmhurst Health system in the western suburbs of Chicago, where she treats patients at various levels of care: inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and the office setting. She has worked on policy initiatives related to the evaluation and treatment of patients with substance abuse and dual diagnoses. Dr. Venugopal is interested in working with adolescents and adults who struggle with mental health and/or addictions.
